It's all about Cats and Birds

Mee-maw had the day off work on Tuesday so Calleigh and I went to spend the day at hers. Calleigh spent the morning exploring the house and keeping us on our toes. She also followed the cat around for a bit, much to the poor cats displeasure. It was your typical stand off when the two came face to face.

In the afternoon, thanks to the nice sunshine we were having, I decided to go up to Attenborough Nature Reserve so Calleigh could see some birds.
After parking up Mee Maw and Calleigh went on ahead whilst I paid for parking. When I caught up with them Calleigh was stone faced, completely uninterested whilst Mee Maw was being attacked by the huge swans. I had a little laugh, being the nice person that I am before going to rescue them.

After a quick cuppa I decided on a bit of shopping as there were some shops nearby.
Spent some money on Calleigh as always and even spent some of Mee Maws money on Calleigh too. She's a spoilt little girl.

Here are some more photos from Attenborough just so you can see how excited Calleigh was to be there.

Bubbles and Ducks: Making the most of Bath Time

Bath time is by far Calleigh's favourite part of the morning. She always get excited when she hears me splashing up some bubbles for her. I think if left up to Calleigh she would stay in there all day.

Unfortunately we are not lucky enough to have a bath in our house, only a shower. So we have to make do with the smaller baby bath.

Here's how we make the most of bath times.

Johnson's cotton buds, baby shampoo, top-to-toe wash, baby lotion, baby powder, a brush and a sponge.

I swear by the Johnson's range of products. They are brilliant and gentle on Calleighs' delicate skin. I have used the top-to-toe wash from her very first bath and introduced the other products into the routine when she was a bit older.

Don Duck Leone

She always has her friend Don Duck Leone in the bath with her to splash about with. It just wouldn't be the same without him.

After the bath I like to use the hooded towels as they keep her nice and snug whilst I'm drying her. Which makes for a happy baby and a happy mummy.

A Good Nights Sleep

I Feel I have been very lucky with Calleigh. From about 3 weeks old our little bundle of joy started sleeping through the night. She loves her sleep (just like her Dad), even now I find that me or Daddy has to wake her up in the morning because shes sleeping too long.

I know what you may be thinking. Wow she must have a really good bedtime routine. But alas there is no routine, Calleigh simply knows when it's bedtime, and she has done for a long time.

When she was 3 months old we started putting her in her cot to sleep. She adjusted very well and it was no trouble at all. She wasn't always in her cot, when we first brought her home from hospital Mummy was still in a lot of pain from her operation so Daddy stayed downstairs for the night shift whilst Mummy rested up. When she was 2 weeks old we decided to move her into our bed. Now this, we were told, is a big no no, so I don't condone it in any way. But it worked for us. She loved sleeping with us and we felt safe knowing exactly where she was.

After a couple of weeks Calleigh started taking liberties and Mummy and Daddy were pushed to the edge of the bed. It's amazing how much space such a tiny thing can take up.
So that's when we decided to move her into her Moses Basket, after all we did buy it for a reason. But she wasn't in it for too long though as it was a rocking one and she didn't half rock it. So we moved her into the cot and that's about where we are now.

So Calleigh's On Facebook

Sometimes I worry about my dear husband Paul. The other day he decided to make Calleigh a facebook page. I know, I know a baby with a facebook page, whatever next?

He now uses it to make humorous status updates about what Calleigh is doing or thinking.
He calls himself "the fat man" (although I have no idea why, I wouldn't say he was particularly large in any way) and I am referred to as "the skinny one" or "the female".

I can see this getting out of hand.
Although it does amuse me and others that have been lucky enough to be accepted as a friend of Calleigh's.

A Sunny Day Out In Nottingham

I took Calleigh down to Victoria Centre in Nottingham today, along with Auntie Lana, to enter her into the Baby and Toddler of the year competition run by the Nottingham Post.
After a few tears due to the strange lady with a huge camera in her face we finally got some brilliant smiles and hopefully some winning photos of Calleigh. We have to go down next week to take a look at them but I think voting begins in this Sunday's Nottingham Post.
So if you happen to pick up a copy be sure to vote for Calleigh.

After a bit of shopping we stopped for lunch in Starbucks where Auntie Lana ate the shop dry before heading back to Market Square where there is currently a big artificial beach and some rides. As it was a lovely sunny day we decided to park our bums on the sand and let Calleigh have a play.

She loved the feel of the sand between her little fingers and managed to cover herself, me and Lana in sand before we decided we had eaten enough of it.

We moved on to one of the rides which me and Lana were able to go on with her. We went round and round and round and Calleigh had so much fun that she fell asleep almost instantly after we got off.

Back at home we decided to stay out in the sun for a bit longer, after all you never know when It's going to be this nice again.

Home Sweet Home

We have been back home for over a week now and just about settled back in. The flight home was a breeze, Calleigh even got her own seat and slept most of the way.

The normally dreadful English weather has been good to us and we have seen some beautiful days since we have been back.
It was great catching up with family and showing them the tons of photos of Calleigh on her travels.

We also celebrated Daddy's birthday last week. We made him some cookies and ninjabread men and then Calleigh and Daddy spent the afternoon playing his favourite game on the Xbox- Red Dead Redemption.

I love being back in the comfort of my own home, surrounded by family, but I am definitely missing being over there. You just can't beat it. On that note I will announce that all being well with pending visas and job offers we will be moving out there to live in January next year.
A whole new life awaits us out there and it is a once in a lifetime opportunity that we cannot and will not let pass by.
