3 Things I'm Grateful For...

Being a mum is by far the most amazing and best thing in my life. Everyday something new happens like Calleigh taking her first steps. But it also has it's hard moments like missing a night out with your girls or getting on and off a bus with a pushchair (although this may just be me and my awful pushchair orientation).
These things in mind makes me very grateful for the three below.

  1. Family- If it wasn't for mine and Paul's family those night's out with Paul that we both really enjoy wouldn't be possible. And neither would it be possible to see the happiness and beaming grin on Calleigh's face when we pick her up in the morning. So for this reason Thank you Mee-Maw, Lana, Nanna and Grandad :-)
  2. Friend's- It's always good to be reminded that you are not just a mummy every now and again. Sometimes it can feel as though you have replaced drinks and girly chats with nappies and goo goo gaa gaa's. But you haven't you can still go out with the girls and put the goo goo's behind you for one night (although you may find that all you talk about is your little bundle of joy and what she's doing now). So thank you to my girlfriends :-)
  3. Lastly, but by far not least is my lovely husband Paul- Without Paul I really don't think I could cope, he is a constant source of love and support for both Calleigh and I. He is not just a dad or a husband to me, he is my best friend and my rock and he is one hell of a good dad to Calleigh. So thank you Paul.. I, I mean we, love you tons.

First Steps

Yesterday I got to spend the morning with my mum whilst Paul had Calleigh for a few hours. It was nice to have some time when I didn't have to worry about where Calleigh was or what she was doing (that she shouldn't be doing).

Unfortunately these days are very quickly coming to an end as it was that very afternoon that Calleigh took her first steps on her walker. I was ecstatic when I saw her and ran around shouting for my mum to get the camera. She's growing up so fast.

It won't be long now until she's running around chasing the cat.
Poor cat. . Calleigh's already stealing her jingle balls to play with. Although I think that may have something to do with a certain Charlotte I know.

Calleigh's Week

Last week we were visited by a good friend of mine. It was the first time she had seen Calleigh since she was a tiny little baby. Calleigh was all smiles as usual, she loves visitors especially when they buy her the little crocodile teddy she's had her eye on for the last month (thank you Charlotte). If you want to see what my friend thought of her visit and of Calleigh check it out here at Charlotte'sWeb.

At the weekend we went up to Skegness again, this time with Mee-Maw and Auntie Lana. And once again we were so lucky with the weather. Saturday the sun shone on us all day which made for a lovely trip to the beach. I brought a bucket and spade for Calleigh to have a little play with, although, if I'm honest, I do think I had more fun playing with it.

When we got back the the caravan it was nice to just sit outside with a beer and the family and enjoy the rest of the day in the sun. Calleigh had fun playing on the grass, especially with her new Ariel ball (thank you Charlotte again).

When we got home Sunday afternoon Daddy greeted us with big smiles and even some flowers (he missed us).

Baby of the Year Photo's

As you know I entered Calleigh in this years Baby of the Year photo competition run by the Nottingham Post.
We got all the photos back and the one we had chosen appeared in the Nottingham Post on Tuesday.

Even though we had quite a few tears that day I thought the photo's were adorable and if she doesn't win in the competition I still think she is my baby of the year.
If anyone picks up a copy of the post with a voting form in and wants to vote for Calleigh her number is 1233 and shes on page 6 in the pull-out.

Outfit Of The Month: September

Calleigh is wearing her new Daisy Pyjama's and slippers. I brought these from the Disney Store, they have a lovely range of adorable clothes for babies.

She is also wearing her new Minnie Mouse dressing gown, getting ready for the colder mornings ahead.
This was a present from Mee-Maw from our trip to Matalan when we went feeding the ducks.

Calleigh's Trip Up North

Last weekend we all headed up to Leeds to visit Paul's sister Emma and her Husband Jim who had just moved into a new house. Nanna and Grandad went to and they brought their dog Jack.
It was Calleigh's first trip in her new car seat but she adjusted well and slept most of the way there.

When we finally arrived they were so pleased to see Calleigh and were amazed at how much she had grown since the last time they saw her. Calleigh was happy to receive all the fuss and attention as always and when she saw Jack had come too she was even more happy, if a little unsure at first.

After a quick tour of their new house and the plans they had for it, we all sat outside eating a lovely buffet they had prepared. I gave Calleigh a carrot stick to nibble on and then decided to try her with a cocktail sausage. It all went really well at first, she enjoyed trying something new, that was until she decided to bite off more than she could chew and started choking. I was so scared, I was shouting at Paul to get it out her mouth. Finally after what seemed like forever out came the bit of sausage and all was forgotten by Calleigh.

Calleigh played out on the grass teasing Jack whilst we all chatted. Emma had also got Paul and I a birthday cake which we got to take home with us.

At the end of the day I rounded everyone together for a family photo before Calleigh got too tired and we headed off home. Calleigh was so tired she fell straight to sleep as we pulled off bless her.

A Day out With Auntie Lana

It's so hard to believe it's actually September when I look out the window. This glorious sunshine is such a treat as it means we can go out and enjoy the outdoors instead of being couped up at home.
Auntie Lana had a couple of days off work earlier in the week so we all headed to the local park.

Calleigh absolutely loves the park, especially the swings. She smiles, laughs, squeals and screams with joy with every push. It melts my heart a little to see her so happy.

And proving that you're never too old to have a good old swing Auntie Lana joined in.

Calleigh is not so sure of the slide, probably because (for obvious reasons) I won't let her go on her own. But she doesn't seem to mind too much.

Then we all sat down and had some lunch before heading back to Auntie Lana's for a cup of tea.

A good day had by all.

Calleigh's Menu: 9 months

Now Calleigh is 9 months old feeding her is a treat, albeit a very messy one. I enjoy giving her little portions of what Daddy and I are having as well as using ready made jars.

She has become very fond of toast and happily sits there nibbling (well gumming, she still has no teeth) away at it whilst watching her morning TV.
More recently we have introduced her to scrambled egg and beans and she is loving them too.

Last week I was lucky enough to recieve a free sample from Hipp Organic of their new range of pouches. I got a pouch of Scrummy Spaghetti Bolognese and gave it to Calleigh for her dinner that day. She loved every spoonful and wiped the bowl clean.
This last week she has also tried a very mild Chicken Curry and a Pork and Apple Casserole both of which she finished off in record timing.

Dessert wise she loves fruit but is not so fond of chocolate. Although she is partial to a Jaffa Cake or two.
She also loves Victoria Sponges and apple and ginger biscuits.

Feeding is fun! Soon it will be time for turkey dinosaurs and fun pasta shapes woohoo.
