Spider Decorations

We are excited for Halloween tomorrow! Calleigh can't wait to go out in her costume and get some treats!
A couple of weeks ago we spent some time making these super easy spider decorations! Calleigh loved painting and sticking on the eyeballs. Now they are hanging from the ceiling and she likes to hit them with her broom haha.

The Bouqs- Flowers to Impress

If your looking for a new place to get your flowers from look no further than The Bouqs! Whether your looking for yourself, a family member, a special occasion or just a surprise for that special person in your life- The Bouqs has all the flowers you need to impress.

When I was contacted to review one of their lovely bouquets I was beyond excited- who doesn't love receiving flowers.
I chose a bouquet called "The Great Pumpkin" as the beautiful orange colour is brilliant at this time of year. I received the flowers on the day they said they would arrive and they came in bud form so not to damage the flowers on delivery- and I got even longer to enjoy them!

One of the best and most interesting thing about the flowers is that they come straight to your door after being freshly picked from an active volcano or sunny California and always from Eco-friendly farms that protect and sustain the environment.

I can't say enough about how beautiful the flowers are. They are 100% better and more beautiful than flowers you pick up from a supermarket!

Ordering your flowers is real easy- just pick your favourite, pick a date and a shipping address, customise it for your desired recipient and that's it! They even offer a concierge service for those of us that have a hard time remembering special dates. You just need to sign up, pick your dates (they can be special dates or you could set up a monthly service and have the freshest blooms delivered every month) and they will send you a reminder email when it's time to send your flowers.

You can use the code AUTUMN15 to get 15% off your flowers plus free shipping so now is a great time to surprise that special someone- or yourself, theres no shame in that.

Visit their website TheBouqs.com

I received this lovely bouquet for the purpose of this review. All thoughts are completely my own!

The Pumpkin Patch

This last weekend we went down to the Pumpkin Patch to pick out some Pumpkins for our front porch display. It was wet and muddy but Calleigh had a great time, jumping in muddy puddles and all that (thanks Peppa Pig).
It's amazing how many pumpkins there are!

Decorating Halloween Cupcakes

We had so much fun making and decorating Halloween cupcakes the other day!
Our cupcake recipe you can find here. The icing and decorations were store brought and Calleigh loved that I let her do it all herself, well four of them, the rest I decorated.

Outfit of the Month: October

Bringing in some beautiful Fall colours with this month's outfit! Calleigh really loves this dress. It was the first time she has worn it since I brought it from England and she ran straight to the mirror and told me that she looks just like a princess in a pretty dress- so cute!
And of course let's not forget her kitty shoes!

Dress and Knit Leggings- Set from Next
Kitty Shoes- Next

I am aware that most of Calleigh's clothes come from Next these days but they just have an amazing range and it's free shipping to the states if you spend $40- which is easy to do with all the gorgeous clothes!
I think I may have a bit of an obsession with them haha!

Santa Fe Three Bean Chilli

Starting off the Fall Recipes with this gorgeous Chilli. It's really easy to make as it's a slow cooker dish and it tastes amazing! Paul had about 4 bowls of it!

Ingredients:
  • 1lb Ground Beef
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 1 can Kidney Beans
  • 1 can Black Beans
  • 1 can Pinto Beans
  • 1 can Yellow Corn
  • 1 can Diced Tomatoes
  • 1 can Diced Tomatoes and Green Chillies
  • 1 envelope Ranch Salad Dressing Mix
  • 1 envelope Taco Seasoning
Method:
  1. In a skillet cook beef and onion over medium heat until meat is brown. Drain and transfer to slow cooker.
  2. Stir in beans, corn, tomatoes, salad dressing mix and taco seasoning, add a little water if it's looking a bit dry.
  3. Cook on high for 4-6 hours until heated through.
  4. Serve with cheese, tortilla chips and whatever else you fancy.

Chicago and The Field Museum

The night before we were due to leave for Chicago we decided to stay in a hotel to make it easier for us. Our flight wasn't until 12 so we didn't see the point in getting up at the crack of dawn to make the trip to the airport. It turned out to be a really good idea, we had a good nights sleep and woke up relaxed and refreshed.. Which was good as we went to the wrong terminal and had to get on a train to get to the right one. Luckily we left ourselves plenty of time.
The plane was delayed before take off which left us sat on the runway for an hour but other than that the flight went well once again. Calleigh got a bit stir crazy during the last couple of hours but nothing we couldn't handle.

When we arrived in Chicago we were excited to get to our hotel. We decided to treat ourselves and booked a tower suite at the Hard Rock Hotel.
We arrived and checked in and then took the elevator up to the 34th floor and into our suite. The first thing we noticed was the amazing view from the window- the skyscrapers and buildings looked amazing! The second thing we noticed was how old the room looked, it was in fact one of only a few rooms left in the hotel that kept the original architecture from back when it was built in 1929- pretty cool.
The room itself was amazing- it only had one bed but it was plenty big enough for us all to fit in easily.

We didn't spend too long in the room, we just quickly freshened up and then went down to the restaurant for some dinner. The food was really nice although they didn't have a children's menu which was a bit disappointing.
After dinner we headed back to the room to get an early night- we were all pretty tired.

In the morning we were all up and dressed extremely early and after a gorgeous breakfast we checked out and headed to The Field Museum for Calleigh's special surprise.

Inside the Museum Calleigh came face to face with one of the most complete T-Rex skeleton's ever found- Sue. She was so excited to see it and couldn't wait to explore more. She has gotten quite into dinosaurs just recently and she really know her stuff. Back in England Mee-Maw brought her a dinosaur balloon from the Zoo and she told me it was a "Bracha-saurus that eats plants"- so clever!

There were lots of animals displayed at the Museum and Calleigh loved pressing all the buttons and interacting with the displays. There were also more dinosaur skeletons and we even took her to see a 3D movie about Sue.
Not such a good idea though, whilst Paul and I enjoyed it Calleigh sent the whole time hidden in Paul's chest not looking at the screen, maybe a little too scary for her.

After the Museum it was finally time to start heading home. It was a 5 hour drive but Calleigh slept for a good amount on the way after her exciting day! We arrived home about 6 and actually managed to unpack all the suitcases and start on the washing! We did well!

So that's the end of our trip posts, I think I've pretty much covered everything.

Now I am looking forward to Halloween and my favourite season- Fall!
